Demand for Prosafe Accommodation Vessels Increase
Accommodation support provider Prosafe says demand for its services is picking up in its main markets of the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.
In the North Sea, the company says most of the fixed offshore installations are mature and in need of increased maintenance and modifications to sustain production and safe operations. In many cases the lives of these facilities are being extended by satellite tie-ins and increased recovery programs.
Prosafe has contracts in the region this year for its fleet of semisubmersible floatels and foresees more North Sea projects requiring additional accommodation in 2011 and 2012. Current assignments include:
- Safe Esbjerg – Following a 60-day special period survey/refurbishment, due to work for Maersk in the Danish sector through June 2011
- Safe Caledonia – On duty for Total in the UK North Sea until September
- Safe Bristolia – Due to mobilize to the North Sea in April to work for Nexen
- Safe Scandinavia – Currently anchored at the Invergordon yard in northern Scotland, ahead of two six-month contracts for Statoil, the first scheduled to start in May
- MSV Regalia – Started work for BP Norge on the Valhall field last July, due to remain at this location through July 2011, with optional extensions of up to six months.
Elsewhere, five of the company’s rigs are on bareboat charter to Interpetroleum Services supporting Pemex on the Cantarell field in the Mexican sector. The Safe Astoria is under contract to Shell off the Philippines until June, while the Safe Concordia is available.
