Submitted by on October 30, 2012 – 06:25No Comment

The Marine Technology Society’s Dynamic Positioning Committee has honoured Dr Steven Cargill, one of GL Noble Denton’s leading technical authorities, with its 2012 Distinguished Achievement Award.

The prize recognises Dr Cargill’s contribution to the field of dynamic positioning (DP) throughout his 28-year career within the oil and gas industry.

It pays tribute to his success in developing important technical standards on failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) for DP systems, and his input to a range of international guideline documents published by the Marine Technology Society.

Dr Cargill is one of 12 DP professionals to have been honoured with a Distinguished Achievement Award since 2001.

During a special ceremony to mark the occasion in Houston, DP founder Howard Shatto characterised Dr Cargill as an active coach and mentor to industry professionals. He also praised Steven for his ability to empathise with contrasting industry opinions, and turn differing views into pragmatic technical solutions that benefit the sector.
